Computer Software and Information Technology Car Journey Time Survey Project ID : 24849 Project Duration : 2001 - 2003 Client : Transport Department Description : Since 1987, the Car Journey Time Survey has been carried out annually for the purpose of monitoring traffic congestion in Hong Kong. The survey involves the measurement of journey times along selected routes during the morning peak hours. The survey results are used to calculate a district-wide “Speed Index” (S.I.), which facilitates comparison with results in other years A second measure of congestion, the “Speed Flow Index” (S.F.I) uses the results of the Car Journey Time Survey in combination with results of the Annual Traffic Census, to compare how well the road system handles increases/decreases in traffic volumes in terms of resultant changes in vehicular speed Figures: GIS View (Left) and Route Map View (Right)
